Soft Commodity Logistics - Physical Trading Operations

A small, specialist Central London trading company urgently requires an experienced physical commodities shipping and support person to join their small but extremely busy team.

This role will be a primary point of contact for customers and suppliers involved with arranging and managing movements of bulk and containerised shipments sourced globally. The role also includes general office support.

A successful applicant will have the confidence to address challenging situations in order to provide excellent customer service, come from a major soft commodity operations background ideally grain, feed stuffs (oats, wheat, barley, soy) or similar - moved in both bulk and containerised volumes, with a provable record of success spanning at least 6 – 8 years.

Core working hours are 9am – 5:30pm, but flexibility outside of these times is sometimes necessary.

A comprehensive understanding of international bulk & containerised commodities trade procedures, incoterms, payment methods, and complex shipping documentation is absolutely essential.


CORE DUTIES:

Arranging customer call offs, shipments and deliveries and handling relevant documentation such as invoices bills of lading
Supporting accounts receivable in managing customer accounts
Inventory management, monitoring inventory for items and stock
Liaising with traders
Running reports to check the status of contracts, orders, shipments, invoices
Logging & handling of customer complaints
Handling credit notes / return orders
Negotiating haulage and freight rates
Stock control

IDEAL APPLICANT

A good team player with strong communication skills and attention to detail
Experience working under pressure
Several years working experience of import/export co-ordination and documentation; including bills of lading, incoterms, such as CIF and FOB, invoices, customs forms, packing lists, certificates of origin etc.
Excellent English skills both spoken and written, other languages a bonus but not essential
Numerate and computer literate
Energy and stamina
Proven commitment to providing excellent customer service and problem resolution
