Part-time Quality Manager – Agri-commodity Trader

Small city Agri-commodity trader requires a senior Quality Assurance manager to join them on a part-time basis.

This is a crucial role in the business and will mainly take responsibility for planning, directing and coordinating quality assurance programs and formulate quality control policies to meet and maintain the company’s accreditation.

This is a part-time role and will ideally require 2-3 days per week. The role would suit someone with extensive knowledge of UK & EU legislation around physical commodity trading and be able to advise senior managers within the company accordingly.

Areas of Responsibility:

EU/UK Legislation
• Making sure the company has latest versions or all UK/EU legislation in place
• Briefing employees on any applicable changes or amendments

Technical Data Sheets
• Creation/Reviewing/Updating
• Making sure they comply with any existing or new EU/UK applicable legislations/directives

Health and Safety Data Sheets
• Creation/Reviewing/Updating
• Making sure they comply with any existing or new EU/UK applicable legislations/directives

Compulsory Declaration
• Reviewing/Updating system to make sure they comply with any existing or new EU/UK applicable legislations/directives
• Briefing company on any applicable changes or amendments

Tariff Codes
• Sourcing/Verifying
• Updating records
• Briefing company on any applicable changes or amendments to duty/tariff rates

Supplier/Customer Questionnaires
• Completion of as well as follow up queries

Audit involvement
• Maintaining accreditation
• Applying for new accreditation
• Briefing company on any changes or amendments following audits

Essential Functions:

• Review existing policies and make suggestions for changes and improvements and how to implement them

• Maintain and continuously review technical documents produced

• Ensure compliance to accreditation standards as well as customer requirements

Personal Requirements:

• 5 - 10 years’ experience within either a senior Quality Control (QC) or a Quality Assurance (QA) role

• Experience or exposure to Coceral/UFAS/OF&G/Cert ID Quality Scheme

• Previous experience of creating and implementing quality policies and procedures

• Organisational abilities and interpersonal skills – up and down the line

• Ability to cope with the detailed work of this specialist commodity sector

• Good at multitasking and eye for detail

• Good knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint
