A multi-functional trading company in Amsterdam is currently recruiting a Trade Compliance Expert for their administration department.
The role will be responsible for the daily management of trade compliance of business departments in the company and other group companies in the region.
Formal qualifications in trade compliance or customs practice are not necessarily required, but the successful candidate should be able to demonstrate a wide knowledge of global import and export regulations, and have experience in trade compliance, ideally in a global company.
This position would ideally suit someone who has already worked in the Trade compliance field in an international (trading) company or freight forwarder.
Business level English and Dutch is required, and some understanding of Japanese culture and Japanese skill would be advantageous.
TYPE: Permanent, full-time
WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday, Flex-Time system, 38.5 hours a week
SALARY: €70K depending on experience, plus good benefits
LOCATION: Amsterdam, The Netherlands

• Provide expertise and guidance on import and export regulations around the world
• Identify improvements and develop procedures at regional level
• Design and perform risk assessments on current activities of European offices in consultation with Tokyo HQ and other affiliates
• Lead development of trade compliance structure within the organisation
• Implement the developing global internal control policy initiatives
• Ensure compliance with global sanctions requirements
• Perform audits of current practice

• Previous trade compliance work experience (5 years or more)
• Previous experience of communication/negotiation with custom officer or relevant officer
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Business level fluency in both English and Dutch
• Some understanding of Japanese culture and Japanese language skill would be advantageous
