A Japanese cultural platform is looking for a Retail Financial Analyst at their office in London.
You will manage the financial accounting activities and reporting for retail operation, optimise the sales and profitability of the retail operation through analysis and review of financial performance and business drivers, analyse monthly key financial indicators - from sales performance, to monitoring costs and stock reconciliations, highlighting key areas of focus for the coming months and to deliver regular reporting commentary
Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese skill would be advantageous.
TYPE: Fixed term contract up to end March 2024
WORKING HOURS: full time (part-time can be applicable)
SALARY: £34K - £36K
START: ASAP
LOCATION: London (Due to ongoing Covid-19 precautions, this role will begin as a remote-first position, with a gradual return to an office environment.)

RESPONSIBILITY:
• Produce accurate Management Reports (including sales reporting, profitability reporting,
budgeting, and monthly forecasts)
• Monthly costs variance analysis and reporting, monitoring costs and KPIs, and providing
value-adding commentary to explain movements highlighting focal areas and challenging
actions
• SKU profitability analysis, work alongside the retail teams to maximise the performance of
product range (including: annual/weekly/daily performance vs targets; conversion and
ATV; category and product return on space; top selling lines and availability)
• Product Planning Support including: OTB, import costs, margin, product lifecycle, supplier
income analysis; concession performance; new product planning, promotional activity
effectiveness and aging / writing down of stock
• eCommerce reporting including: sales to target; best sellers; product profitability;
• Monitor and address any inaccuracies or missing information between various data
sources
• Working with the stock controller to make sure stock figures are accurate, and overseeing
stock reconciliations, quarterly cyclical counts, annual audit
• Bank and suppliers’ statements reconciliations review
• Ensuring all invoices are approved and paid in accordance with internal processes
• Management of the Finance Assistant in conjunction with the Financial Accountant
• Producing month end reporting including Management Accounts, Profit & Loss, Balance
Sheet and Cash Flow Statement
• Posting month-end journals to the general ledger including intercompany transactions.
• Process all invoices in a timely manner with great attention to detail

IDEAL CANDIDATE:
• Hold a finance-related bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university is preferred
• At least three years of experience in a finance or accounts-based role in a retail environment, e-commerce experience is preferable
• Accounting qualifications preferred but not essential Professional
• A minimum of three years’ experience working in retail environment and experience of dealing with retail financial data and KPIs
• Understanding the retail operation and retail data analytics
• Experience and solid foundation within Management Accounts, Financial Statements, Budgeting, Forecasting and Financial Analysis
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to understand key business performance drivers
• Strong analytical and interpretation skills to identify opportunities and actively participate in the operational decision-making process
• Ability to effectively communicate and challenge senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen to manage financial performance
• Excellent written and spoken English, proficient to high business language standard
• Excellent excel skills including pivot tables and VLOOKUP
• Ability to work with multiple systems
• Experience using Xero accounting software would be an advantage
• Effective presentational skills, both verbal and written with strong attention to detail
• Ability to present complex information in a simple and clear manner
• Ability to work individually and as part of a team
• Self-starter with the ability to see the “bigger picture”
• Excellent time management skills, including ability to prioritise and work to strict deadlines
• Enthusiastic, positive and proactive engagement of key stakeholders
• Strong inter-personal skills and an empathetic nature
