A large blue-chip international trading company located in the City of London are seeking a Credit Risk Manager to join their team.
A successful applicant will have at least 5 years’ of very stable work experience in the credit risk management field working inside a B2B multinational trading company dealing in metals / chemicals / food products. A legal background in addition to this is also greatly welcomed.

SALARY: £50-55K, depending on experience


• Proactively advising and consulting business departments regarding risk management issues such as credit, market, country and investment risk and negotiating with the insurer, lawyers and insolvency administrators regarding bad debt
• Assess and analyse credit risk issues from business departments in the EMEA region
• Make quantitative and qualitative analysis of each customer and provide necessary advice to staff and make recommendations to senior management for establishing of credit lines, as well as for making decisions for investment go-ahead
• Visit customers and risk investigation agencies and collect risk related information
• Closely monitor overdue & over-credit situation of each customer and try to find its reason and help to avoid such situations
• Create and execute strategies for recovery of debts from problematic customers across EMEA. Also assist in related problem solving as they arise
• Improve risk management mind-set of all business staff across EMEA through educational activities
• Make necessary reports relating to risk management
• Undertake special monitoring for key accounts of across EMEA
• Continue to improve own skills, and contribute to improved skill levels across the risk management team at all levels
• Work with other risk management staffs on related activities


• Accurately and efficiently assess credit, trade, market and country risk of trading entities within EMEA business unit, and make appropriate advice to business staff in order to create risk-to-return balanced business
• Help to find significant risk and problems within the territory and to think out solutions
• Compile, consolidate, monitor and report on risk related positions within EMEA region for senior management and international head office review
• Liaise with and provide support to EMEA offices regarding risk management
• Support business departments in terms of their credit applications, client meetings, collecting risk related information, difficult debt collection, customer bankruptcies and queries they have with regard to the processes
• Study and resolve any ad hoc issues relating to risk management
• Report in writing, including the over-credit / overdue payment reports
• Act as contact windows for external parties such as credit insurers, brokers, suppliers and assisting in negotiations


• At least 5 years’ of very stable work experience in the credit risk management field working inside a B2B multinational trading company dealing in metals / chemicals / food products
• Not held more than 3 different jobs over last 10 years, with at least 3-5 years in each role
• A legal degree or related knowledge would be looked at very favourably
• Degree in Maths, Economics, Finance, Risk, Legal or related subject
• Totally fluent English; written and spoken
• International commodity trading knowledge (incoterms, payment terms, etc.)
• Knowledge of bankruptcy laws, collaterals and debt recovery in general
• Country risk analysis knowledge
• Very strong numerical and analytical skills, with ability to analyse complex company financial information
• Advanced international economics and financing knowledge
• Some general accounting knowledge
• Strong IT skills; Word, Excel, preferably also SAP
