International Export Sales Brand Manager – Spirits

An independent, international producer & traders of spirits are seeking an International Sales Brand Manager to join their small NW London team.

Responsible for building the Middle East, India, Africa (MEIA) & Asia markets from effectively zero, the role will travel extensively to these regions and be responsible for developing the sales of quality blended Scotch whisky. The primary focus in these emerging markets are consumers that want to switch out of a local spirit, up to a modern, contemporary Scotch from the UK.

The Role offers excellent development and growth opportunities as the company expand and grow their spirits range over the next 2-3 years.

LOCATION: North-West London
SALARY: up to £70K, depending on experience
START: ASAP, ideally April-May 2018
TYPE: Permanent, full time

• Responsible for the sales development in the assigned markets & territories - Middle East, India, Africa (MEIA) & Asia
• Develop a strategic sales plan in the key markets across NPD, PR & Comms while working closely with the Head of Brand and the Digital Manager
• Selecting and developing local distributors and sales assets
• Developing sales tools to support the launch and growth in key markets
• Working with global travel retail to support growth in this channel with specific assets and in-store experiences
• Maximising the sales opportunity across the full range of new products
• Supporting sales of the brand by attending key UK and overseas trade fairs, organising local sales events, and working with the Digital Manager to develop social media programs

• Minimum 5+ years’ experience within the international spirits (possibly wine) industry
• Worked in the specific emerging market territories - Middle East, India, Africa (MEIA) & Asia
• Willing to jump on plane at short notice, prepared to regularly be away from London approximately 50% of the time
• Proven sales and project management skills with the ability to work to set timescales and within a budget
• Comfortable structuring a new role, with a high level of initiative and a clear focus on delivering results within 12-18 months into very competitive and very organised market
• Demonstrable personal affinity with Scotch whisky and spirits
• Experience in selection & management of international distributors
• Had pricing and sales decision making responsibility
• Hands-on experience in building a brand in emerging markets
• Demonstrable consumer focus and ability to turn insight into actionable projects - able to identify consumer trends
• Degree educated (ideally in international business), additional qualifications eg WSET is a major plus
• Flexible, adaptable and highly organised, motivated and determined
• Report to the Brand Director & Sales Director, but be able to work autonomously
• Action-oriented and solutions-focused with strong attention to detail and good analytical ability
• Creative, and with an outgoing and positive personality
• Excellent interpersonal skills; can build relationships outside of the company & within the business quickly
