An international trading company is seeking to recruit a Logistics Assistant to work in their Chemicals Department. This role would suit someone who enjoys working in a busy department where they will have varied responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:

Logistics Assistant
• Produce commercial export and import documentation and check shipping documentation.
• Ensure the on-time international delivery of products to buyers and suppliers.
• Resolve any issues that arise during the export or import of products.
• Correspond with suppliers and buyers and respond to inquiries.
• Correct filling of import and export documentation.
• Track deliveries and assist with arranging transports of good through containers, tracks and tankers.
• Ensure that calls are routed to the correct staff and take messages in appropriate circumstances.
• May be required, in emergencies, to occasionally correspond over weekends (remotely), in order to assist management.
• Occasionally, there may be a requirement to assist other staff in organising the divisional meeting that takes place once a year at a different location (Hotels, flights, meetings rooms, lunches, refreshments etc. for all guests).
• Any other tasks as may be requested by the manager in order to meet the operational need of the business that are deemed to be within the job holder’s sphere of competence.

Key skills and experience required
• Degree Educated.
• Basic knowledge of export and import trade terms.
• Experience in product logistics.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills and able to work in a fast paced environment.
• Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Fluency in other European languages especially German is desirable.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Able to travel nationally and internationally including weekends.
