Documentary Credit / Trade Finance Clerk (Mat cover)

A small commodities trading company based in the Canary Wharf area are urgently seeking an experienced Documentary Credit / Letter of Credit / Trade Finance specialist to join their team immediately – ideally from the foods industry.

Please note that this is an initial 6 month maternity contract with the possibility of extension (up to 16 months)

The suitable candidate will have experience of documentary credits / letters of credit, be self-motivated, able to work within a team, and be highly literate and accurate.
The successful applicant will be keen, organised, enthusiastic, able to prioritise their work, numerate, and adaptable to the day to day requirements of the work. Strong computer skills in Word & Excel are vital – and will be tested as a part of the recruitment process.

It is important that the successful applicant is able to balance the different demands of the position successfully without comprising the effectiveness of their work.

Preparing, opening and amending import letters of credit
Liaise with suppliers overseas in order to negotiate letters of credit terms
Work with financing banks regarding any technical issues
Speak directly with customers to clarify the requirements, and acquire an strong understanding of the documentary requirements of the importing countries which ensure that the goods and documents comply with current local regulations
Support the trading division with other support duties as required

2+ years’ experience in a Documentary Credit / Letter of Credit / Trade Finance focused role, ideally with UCP 600 or similar
Strong IT skills in Word and Excel
Available to start immediately
Willing to quickly learn and adapt
Live within an easy commute to Canary Wharf
