In this week\u2019s Meet the Team article, we sat down with Shinya Fukumoto, a Senior Recruitment Consultant, to get his view on his 4-year career at Centre People.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Briefly, how did you get started in recruitment?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWell when I moved to the UK and started looking for a job, I registered with Centre People. I previously worked in sales in the semiconductor industry, and when Centre People approached me for a role, I felt I could use my sales and project management experience. I like when clients recognise my work and are grateful, it adds a lot of value to my role.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s something your clients and candidates might be surprised to learn about you?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause in my previous job I lived in Taiwan for three years, I can speak a little bit of Mandarin Chinese, that\u2019s the most surprising thing for everyone, I think. I need to brush up on it a little bit more though.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBecause my partner and I bought a house about a year ago, from this spring we started gardening. So yeah, lots of flowers and plants, and we really enjoyed that. We\u2019ve planted tomatoes, and Japanese mizuna, and strawberries, so fingers crossed!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Is there a moment from your career that you\u2019re particularly proud of?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA few times, when working with new clients and I could successfully introduce candidates to them, and from there I could build a deeper and deeper relationship with them. They were really satisfied with our service, so that\u2019s a moment I\u2019m always very proud.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How has working in recruitment changed you personally?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis might be strange, but in my personal life, when I\u2019m speaking with other people, I\u2019m definitely more curious about their careers, and what sort of career path they are following. Also, I was never introverted, but I feel more comfortable now talking to strangers than before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What key piece of advice do you give to any of our new consultants at Centre People?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOther than the usual advice like prioritising your work, multi-tasking, that sort of advice everyone gives, I think it\u2019s also important to communicate very very closely with everyone, either internally, or with clients, I think you should have close communication. Sell yourself to them, and make them your fans! Sort of like making a brand for yourself, and if they like you, then the results naturally follow.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s the most rewarding part of connecting people with the right opportunity?<\/strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

\u201cFrom the candidates and company side, being appreciated by them is the most important part of this job for me, so I will do my best to make everyone involved happy!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
