After nearly 5 years developing the UK and European market from London, Hiroki was chosen to start up our Netherlands branch, building it from a one-man operation to the 5-person machine it is today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1016\" height=\"47\" src=\"http:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/line2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2564\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/line2.png 1016w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/line2-300x14.png 300w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/line2-768x36.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1016px) 100vw, 1016px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Briefly, how did you get started in recruitment?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-media-text alignwide has-media-on-the-right is-stacked-on-mobile\" style=\"grid-template-columns:auto 48%\"><figure class=\"wp-block-media-text__media\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"473\" height=\"450\" src=\"http:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4457 size-full\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN.jpg 473w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-300x285.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px\" \/><\/figure><div class=\"wp-block-media-text__content\">\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cSo, I\u2019ve always believed that companies are built on people, and I wanted to support Japanese businesses around the world by strengthening their human capital. A problem in Japan is that the number of young people in Japan is decreasing, so local hiring is a challenge. Through my experience travelling overseas, backpacking and holidaying in Asia and meeting people that want to work in Japan, I realised I wanted to bring these young people through recruitment \u2013 so I joined the Quick Co. Group in 2015.\u201d<br><br>\u201cAnother reason that was that I wanted to work using my name, not the company&#8217;s product \u2013 my credibility would carry the business, I think this is something that\u2019s you know, my cup of tea.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>What\u2019s something your clients and candidates might be surprised to learn about you?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cIt is quite rare to be stationed overseas within a recruitment company, and in my case, I have been based in Europe for six and a half years since the age of 26, which is very young for an ex-pat. I also got married after relocating overseas and now have two children, people are often surprised by this.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>What do you enjoy doing in your free time?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cI recently bought a home bread maker, so making bread with my two daughters has become our trend. We made already sausage bread, sweet red bean buns, and custard cream bread together with them, this is my current thing now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-2-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4419\" width=\"838\" height=\"315\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-2-2.jpg 776w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-2-2-300x113.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-2-2-768x289.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 838px) 100vw, 838px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>How did you feel when you were asked to lead the Netherlands office?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cHonestly, I was excited, but also a little worried. From the time I was first posted to London, I had personally begun developing relationships with Japanese companies in the Netherlands, so it was the market I felt most connected to although I had never been here. On top of that, the Netherlands has been attracting many Japanese companies since Brexit, and I wanted to test my abilities in such a dynamic environment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cI was mainly worried, because I\u2019d never been to the Netherlands so it was whether or not I could live here. I knew I could work, but my family getting used to life here was my main concern.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-4-1024x690.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4424\" width=\"610\" height=\"411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-4-1024x690.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-4-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-4-768x517.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.centrepeople.com\/jp\/article\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/HN-4.jpg 1379w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Which do you enjoy more, the Netherlands or the UK? <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cIt\u2019s very difficult, I love London and the UK, and colleagues in the UK office, but at the moment, it\u2019s the Netherlands. While it may feel less stimulating compared to the UK, I really value being able to take family trips by car to neighbouring countries and enjoying the abundant nature\u2014such as farms and encounters with animals\u2014together with my children.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>What does it take to be a strong business developer?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cI started by attending as many events as I can, exchanging business cards with clients, and people started knowing me \u2013 when they need recruitment, they will remember my name. At the same time, it is vital to always act with sincerity and maintain a spirit of giving towards others. Aiming to build a long-term relationship with a client, not just a \u201cone-off recruitment\u201d angle, is not only respectful to them, but is sustainable for us too.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>What\u2019s the most rewarding part of working as a recruiter?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-normal-font-size\">\u201cIt is when people express their gratitude. Our work is fundamentally based on appreciation, so I find it very rewarding when I can introduce the right talent to a company and witness its growth, or when I support someone through a significant career change and see them thriving in their new role.
