The ideal candidate for the Accounts Assistant should have bookkeeping experience, and at least 2-3 years with balance sheet reconciliations and assisting with the preparation of management accounts.

WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:30 from Monday to Friday (flexible patterns to suit the business needs)

Accounts Assistant Key Responsibilities:
• Registering invoices onto the purchase ledger in a timely fashion
• Reconcile purchase ledger accounts to supplier statements on a monthly basis
• Processing of petty cash purchases by locations and posting relevant journals
• Review and confirm the staff expenses being claimed and analysis of purchases made
• Perform weekly paperwork audits for the responsible sites and raise any discrepancies with the respective managers
• Bank, cash, credit card, delivery and pay at table applications reconciliations
• Analysis of cash banking control accounts and any discrepancies resolved in a timely manner
• Understanding and preparation of VAT returns
• Preparation and maintenance of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Assist with preparation of management accounts
• Assist with year-end audit queries
• Perform any other duties as required by the line manager from time to time.
• Be a role model, setting an example to colleagues and acting with respect at all times.
• To be actively participate in all colleague related issues and to handle them in a professional manner
• Provide necessary leadership, planning and communication skills to ensure the timely delivery of self-set goals
• Together with the management team, devise and present Company goals and strategy to colleagues to ensure transparency and unity
• Build strong relationships with clients and suppliers, including consultants
Accounts Assistant Ideal Candidate
Essential:
• Bookkeeping experience of at least 2-3 years with balance sheet reconciliations and assisting with the preparation of management accounts
• Good understanding of coding expenses on to the accounting system is essential
• Computer literate with at least intermediate hands-on Excel skills and experience of accounting packages, Sage 50 and Xero
• Excellent communication skills to deal effectively with the team
• Attention to detail with an ability to work in a methodical manner
• Experience in Xero, Dext, and ApprovalMax will be an added advantage
