A global leader in international trade is currently recruiting a Senior Accounting Staff member to join its finance team.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing accounting operations, financial reporting, treasury-related activities, reconciliations, and supporting audit and compliance processes, while also contributing to process improvements and system operations.
The ideal candidate will have solid accounting experience, strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and VAT, and the ability to work independently with a high level of accuracy and ownership. Professional proficiency in English and German at B2 level or above are required.

TYPE: 2 years’ contract, full-time (There is a possibility to make the position permanent, depending on performance) *6 months’ probation
WORKING HOURS: Monday to Friday 38.5h / week - flexible working hours
SALARY: depending on experience, but up to 66k including 13th month bonus and performance bonus

LOCATION: Düsseldorf, Germany *One mobile working day per week (after probation period)

Senior Accounting Staff Main Responsibilities:
• Manage general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable activities
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, provisions, and reconciliations
• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and audit schedules
• Review treasury transactions, bank payments, and foreign currency documentation
• Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity monitoring
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements
• Support internal and external audits as a key accounting contact
• Act as a key user for SAP S4/HANA and support process/system improvements
• Maintain process documentation and training materials

Senior Accounting Staff Ideal Candidate:
• 3–5+ years of accounting experience, ideally including treasury exposure
• Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB), VAT, and accounting processes
• Advanced Accounting system (ideally SAP) and MS Excel skills
• Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and improve accounting processes proactively
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or equivalent
• Business level of fluency in English and German at B2 level or above are required
