An international bank is looking for an experienced Credit Analyst (AVP) to join its Düsseldorf office. The bank provides a wide range of corporate banking services to multinational clients and offers an international working environment where English is the primary business language.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to take ownership of corporate lending activities for predominantly Asian corporate clients, with a particular focus on Japanese companies. The successful candidate will be responsible for independently conducting credit analysis, preparing and presenting credit applications, supporting complex lending transactions and monitoring the corporate loan portfolio. The role also involves close collaboration with Relationship Managers, Risk Management and Head Office throughout the credit approval process.
Experience working under European Central Bank (ECB) credit standards or within a regulated European banking environment would be highly advantageous.

Main Responsibilities:
• Independently conduct detailed financial and credit analysis for new and existing corporate borrowers
• Prepare and present high-quality credit applications, annual reviews and periodic credit reports for approval by Credit Committee and senior management
• Assess borrowers' creditworthiness and assign internal credit ratings in accordance with the Bank's credit policies and regulatory requirements
• Review and challenge system-generated internal credit ratings based on qualitative and quantitative assessment
• Monitor the credit quality and overall performance of the corporate loan portfolio, identifying emerging risks and recommending appropriate actions
• Lead or support complex credit transactions including new facilities, amendments, refinancing and restructurings
• Analyse financial statements, cash flow, business models, industry trends and macroeconomic factors to support credit recommendations
• Conduct industry and market research to identify sector risks and opportunities
• Work closely with Relationship Managers, Risk Management, Compliance and Head Office throughout the credit approval process
• Support portfolio reviews, stress testing, regulatory reporting and internal audit requirements
• Prepare portfolio analysis, management reports and ad hoc credit risk reports
• Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, regulatory requirements and best practice risk management standards
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members where appropriate
Ideal Candidate:
• Approximately 5-10 years of experience in corporate credit analysis, corporate banking, commercial banking or a related credit risk function within a financial institution
• Strong experience analysing complex corporate financial statements and assessing credit risk across various industries
• Experience preparing and presenting credit applications for medium to large corporate lending transactions
• Solid understanding of corporate lending products, loan documentation and credit approval processes
• Experience working within a regulated banking environment, ideally under European Central Bank (ECB) supervisory standards or equivalent regulatory frameworks
• Strong analytical, quantitative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while managing multiple credit cases simultaneously
• Business-level English communication skills (spoken and written)
• Japanese language skills are not required
• Experience covering Asian or Japanese corporate clients would be advantageous
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
Conditions:
TYPE: Full-time, initially 1-year contract (with the intention to an indefinite contract) *6 months probation
