A leading manufacturer of polypropylene compounds is currently recruiting a GM/Director of Sales & Product Development to lead their sales and product development team in their Geleen (near Maastricht) office. Remote work from Germany could be available depending on your experience.
In this role you will be responsible for the hands-on business development, sales, and relationship management of clients (mainly car manufacturers or Tier 1 suppliers), as well as management of the product development.
The role will suit someone with strong experience in sales activities in the automotive and plastic industries, as well as experience in managing a team of 10+ people.

SALARY: €120k-€200K (including 8% holiday pay and bonus) depending on experience
LOCATION: Geleen (near Maastricht)

GM/Director of Sales & Product Development Main Responsibilities:
• Identify and manage sales projects, from both sales and finance sides
• Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve business growth in the automotive plastics markets
• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders
• Provide technical and commercial support for product offerings, mainly polypropylene compounds and injection moulding solutions
• Monitor market trends and competitors’ activities to inform business strategies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product development and marketing, to align efforts with customer needs
• Overseeing product development
• Manage the team of 5-6, consisting of sales and product development

GM/Director of Sales & Product Development Ideal Candidate:
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Sales & Marketing within the automotive plastics industry, specifically polypropylene compounds
• Extensive business experience with OEMs and major Tier suppliers is essential
• Strong knowledge of polypropylene, plastic compounds, and injection moulding processes is beneficial
• Experience in successfully leading and managing a team of 10+ members
• Extensive knowledge of finance to identify and manage projects to the best interest of the company
• Proven track record of managing sales revenue of €50M+
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in English and German; additional languages (such as Dutch) are a plus.
• Educational background: A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) is preferred. A degree in Science or Engineering is a plus.
• Willingness to travel frequently for customer visits, industry events, and strategic meetings
• Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and negotiation skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, international environment
