Site Engineer Key Responsibilities
Technical:
• Demonstrate knowledge of building and construction standards and regulations, and contribute to design solutions
• Conduct site surveys before and during construction, and support the preparation of as-built drawings post-construction
• Review subcontractors’ design drawings and specifications, and respond to technical submittals and material approval requests
• Coordinate with architectural, MEP and other design teams, as well as maintenance engineers, to avoid clashes in deliverables
Client management:
• Raise Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) during tender, design and construction stages
• Liaise with clients, tenants and building management regarding security, logistics and other site-related activities
Sub-contractor management:
• Ensure works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and specifications
• Coordinate subcontractors and third-party vendors to avoid clashes in activities
Quality management:
• Maintain accurate records of works, including witnessing and documenting inspections and testing
• Ensure all design changes are discussed, agreed and properly recorded prior to execution
Health & Safety Management:
• Demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of H&S regulations and conduct regular site safety inspections
• Deliver toolbox talks, conduct site inductions and review risk assessments and method statements
Project Management:
• Assist the Project Manager in preparing construction programmes, cost estimates and variations
General:
• Occasional attendance outside normal working hours, including evenings and weekends, may be required
Site Engineer Ideal Candidate:
• Proven experience as a Site Engineer or Assistant Site Engineer within the construction industry
• Solid understanding of building and construction practices, including building regulations, construction standards and drawing interpretation
• Experience conducting site surveys and preparing as-built drawings
• Technical coordination experience with subcontractors and suppliers
• Experience liaising with clients, tenants and building management
• Experience in quality management, including inspections, documentation and design change control
• Knowledge of Health & Safety (H&S) regulations and practical site-based safety experience
Preferred Experience / Skills
• Basic understanding of MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing)
• Experience using BIM/CAD software such as AutoCAD or Revit
• Experience supporting the preparation of construction programmes and cost estimates
• Valid SMSTS, CSCS and First Aid certificate
