An international organisation specialising in trade and investment promotion is seeking a Project Director – International Business Development & Investment Attraction to join its team in Tokyo.
The role will support foreign government clients, including trade promotion agencies, economic development organisations and investment promotion agencies, with investment attraction and international business programmes in Japan. You will identify and engage Japanese companies, build relationships with key stakeholders and support foreign governments in attracting Japanese investment.
The ideal candidate should have substantial experience in FDI attraction on behalf of foreign governments, particularly experience promoting overseas factory or business establishment projects to Japanese companies, together with proven people management experience.

Main Responsibilities
• Represent foreign government and investment promotion clients in Japan
• Identify and engage Japanese companies considering overseas investment and business expansion
• Promote FDI opportunities including factory, office and business establishment projects
• Build and maintain relationships with Japanese companies, government agencies and other key stakeholders
• Lead investment promotion projects from initial research and lead generation through to investment and post-investment support
• Plan and support trade and investment missions, business meetings and company visits
• Manage and support project activities while coordinating with international government and business stakeholders

Ideal Candidate
• Proven experience in FDI attraction on behalf of a foreign government or government-related organisation
• Experience promoting overseas investment projects, such as factory or business establishment, to Japanese companies
• Proven experience managing and developing team members
• Strong understanding of the Japanese business environment and corporate decision-making
• Full professional proficiency in both Japanese and English
• Strong stakeholder management, relationship-building and negotiation skills
• Ability to independently lead projects and communicate with senior government and business stakeholders
• Experience in international trade promotion, investment promotion or business development

Conditions
• Location: Tokyo, Japan
• Working Style: Hybrid
• Salary: ¥10,000,000–¥12,500,000, depending on experience
• Job Type: Permanent, full-time
• Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–6:00pm
• Start: Negotiable
