An international logistics company is seeking a Forwarding Customer Service / Operator to join its Milan office. This position has become available following the retirement of a long-serving team member and offers the opportunity to play a key role in international freight forwarding operations.
Working as part of the operations team, you will be responsible for both customer service and import/export forwarding operations across air and sea freight. You will liaise with customers, carriers, overseas offices, and internal departments to ensure shipments are handled efficiently from start to finish.
The ideal candidate will have practical freight forwarding experience, be confident managing import and export operations independently, and enjoy working in a customer-focused international environment.

Main Responsibilities
• Manage import and export operations for both air and sea freight
• Coordinate with airlines, shipping lines, and logistics partners
• Monitor transport schedules and ensure timely shipment progress
• Arrange customs clearance and delivery
• Liaise with overseas offices and internal departments
• Respond to customer enquiries and provide shipment updates
• Prepare quotations and shipping documentation
Ideal Candidate
• Experience in Customer Service or Operations within the freight forwarding industry
• Hands-on experience managing import and export freight operations
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Business level English
• Italian language skills for business use preferred, or native-level Italian
• Experience handling both air and sea freight would be advantageous
• Previous experience with a Japanese or Japanese-affiliated company would be beneficial
• Japanese language skills would be an advantage for Italian candidates
Conditions
• Location: Milan, Italy
• Working Style: office-based
• Salary: €32,000-€36,000 per annum depending on experience (including 2 months bonus)
• Job Type: permanent, full-time, 5 days per week
• Start: negotiable
