A high-end Japanese hotel in Amsterdam is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its Engineering Department.
Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for helping maintain the hotel’s property, facilities, and equipment to a high standard. The role includes preventive maintenance, general repairs, responding to technical issues affecting guests and hotel operations, and supporting the preparation and coordination of technical projects.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on building or facilities maintenance experience, strong practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work closely with colleagues across the hotel. Experience guiding or supporting less experienced team members would also be an advantage.

Main Responsibilities
• Manage and carry out the hotel’s preventive maintenance plan, with particular focus on guest rooms, meeting rooms and public areas
• Respond promptly to guest-related technical issues and coordinate with relevant hotel departments
• Carry out general repair and maintenance work including woodwork, tiles, ceilings, grouting, locks and sanitary equipment
• Guide and train new and existing Engineering team members to develop their technical skills
• Manage the inventory of tools and spare parts
• Provide technical advice during project preparation
• Act as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders during technical projects
• Liaise with external contractors and coordinate outsourced maintenance and project work
• Participate in Engineering briefings, team meetings and training activities
• Support first aid and elevator safety responsibilities, including required training and annual refresher courses
• Support the Chief Engineer and take on additional responsibilities during their absence
• Maintain accurate records and use operational systems such as HotSOS for issue reporting and maintenance management
Ideal Candidate
• Strong hands-on maintenance and repair skills
• Experience with preventive maintenance programmes
• Ability to guide, train and support other Engineering team members
• Strong planning and organisational skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach
• Strong customer and guest service mindset
• Confident communicating with internal departments and external contractors
• Ability to work independently and take responsibility for technical issues and projects
• Willingness to complete First Aid (BHV) and Elevator Safety training
• Flexibility to work outside regular hours when required for projects or business needs

• Salary: €35,000-€44,750 per annum depending on experience
