A Japanese company based in London is currently recruiting a Head of HR.
In this role you will be responsible for leading, directing and managing all aspects of HR and Payroll functions to ensure a fully comprehensive HR and Payroll service is delivered to the business.
The ideal candidate should have a nature of fostering collaboration across different departments and an in-depth understanding on HR operations.
Understanding of Japanese culture and some Japanese skill would be advantageous but not mandatory.

TYPE: Full-time, : 12 months fixed-term contract with a view to a permanent position thereafter
WORKING HOURS: 9:00-17:00 from Monday to Friday
SALARY: £90-100K depending on experience, plus bonus
START: ASAP
LOCATION: Central London (Currently 3 days in the office (Wednesday is mandatory), 2 days’ work from home – It may change depending on the company’s decision.)

HEAD OF HR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Lead and direct the HR function, working with the HR Manager to deliver a comprehensive HR service to the business, implementing HR strategies and objectives that are aligned to their business strategy
•Understand and ensure that all HR activities needs to be strategically aligned and in progress with the business goals
•Advising their management on employee relations, managing absence, disciplinaries, grievances
•Coaching managers on performance management issues and processes
•To mentorship and leadership develop the HR Manager, providing guidance and creating a supportive and collaborative environment, ensuring great capabilities
•Provide guidance to their management on learning & development for their teams
•Implementing a training and development agenda, when required; identify general areas that need attention and improvement
•To manage and oversee the whole recruitment process, working to the agreed their yearly recruitment plan with their management
•To manage all compensation and benefit activities, including participation in salary and benefit surveys, benefit reviews, benefit updates etc. This will include the review and introduction of new benefit/compensation plans that support them in retaining its employees
•To lead, manage and ensure all payroll services are performance in line with HMRC guidelines and payroll procedures
•To provide support and guidance to employees on all Company benefits.
•To be accountable for and manage for all new HR and Office Management policies, handbooks, procedures and processes
•Ensuring policies and procedures are up to date and in line with current employment law and best practise
•Ensure line managers are up to date with changes to any policies
•Work with their senior management, coaching, mentoring, advising on all people issues and creating employee engagement and team building activities
•To deal with complex disciplinary/grievance, performance and HR issues, using HR and company knowledge evidencing appropriate decision-making skills
•Crafting business and people solutions when required
•Managing and leading priorities of HR projects and regular activities
•Manage, coach, mentors direct line reports ensuring high performers/potential are identified and developed
•In addition support their line managers to identify and develop high performers
•To own and manage the HR budgets
•To initiate/support the development of a Global HR environment, working in partnership with all regions
•To ensure the Company meets all its statutory, issues and requirements
•To ensure all HR activities comply with Data Protection regulations
•To oversee all 3rd party maintenance and service providers supporting the office
•Update knowledge and keep abreast of changes to relevant legislation, guidelines and regulations and communicate appropriate updates to relevant functions, highlighting the impact to the Company
•Undertake personal development through professional organisations and meetings, and through reading professional literature from various sources

HEAD OF HR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
•Ideally a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Human Resource Management or equivalent work experience
•CIPD (Level 7 or equivalent qualification) with significant demonstrable experience of managing a vast HR team function, including vendor management, managing people and driving strategic workforce plans
•Ideally previous experience working in the medical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, science industry or working in regulated environments
•Essential experience working for a Japanese organisation, must fit seamlessly into Japanese corporate culture
•Held previous senior HR positions for at least 10 years’ experience as Head of HR
•Fluency in Japanese would be an asset; however, this is not a mandatory requirement
•Needs to exhibit excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English
•Proven ability to work alongside the HR Manager, actively engaging in all HR operational processes to ensure a cohesive and effective HR strategy
•Demonstrate experience in establishing relationships with international headquarters
•Must have a track record of effectively liaising with global teams and understanding the dynamics of an international corporate environment
•A strong background as a Head of HR with substantial evidence of experience in recruitment, compensation, benefits, employment law, payroll and compliance. The expectation is not merely competence but to excel in navigating both operational and hands-on responsibilities but also to transition to a strategic senior vision, demonstrating leadership
•Impeccable organisational skills, managing tasks, priorities and timelines with attention to detail
•Excellent time management, ability to solve challenges with a strategic mindset and blend operational efficiency with strategic thinking to achieve business objectives
•Excellent understanding of company finances, assuming a role similar to a Finance Manager, demonstrating understanding of financial matters, ensuring policies are compliant
•Experience of dealing with senior and challenging individuals. Able to interact effectively with all levels within the organisation, as well as with external vendors and suppliers
•Confident directing HR, advising managers on all aspects of people management and development
•Solid employment law knowledge and proven experience of applying updated legislation to a variety of HR situations
•A professional and commercial approach to HR, with the ability to deliver high employee satisfaction, appropriate development and reward for individuals
•Must be meticulous and methodical, with the ability to review both data and procedures in detail and the ability to see the greater overall picture. It must be capable to use data information for strategic decisions.
•Must be a tech-savvy person with proficient IT Skills MS Office, experience and fully comfortable with HR Systems such as WorkDay, ADP and AVIVA pension and conducting salary surveys (WTW)
