A specialist company in London arranging international language schooling and homestays for students from East Asia coming to Europe, is looking for an Academic Programmes Manager to join their team.
In this role you will be responsible for working closely with Language schools and other providers in the UK and liaising with partners in Japan to ensure the smooth delivery of intercultural programmes for Japanese school groups visiting the UK.

This is a very challenging role requiring a dynamic candidate capable of meeting deadlines and multi-tasking within an office environment.

SALARY: £25-27K

LOCATION: Eastern suburb of London (Zone 6)

Academic Programmes Manager Main Responsibilities:
• Liaising regularly with offices in Japan by email and Zoom to discuss programme content and to decide which language schools to send groups
• Maintaining relationships with partner organisations such as language schools and various other providers
• Developing new partnerships which may involve attendance to industry networking events and familiarisation visits
• Liaising closely with outsourced providers to ensure that the programme provided is in line with their expectations and that of the partner company in Japan
• Attending regular operational meetings with team members to ensure programme objectives and target dates are maintained
• Processing information such as student applications whilst constantly communicating with both ISA/Japan and the provider here in the UK, paying close attention to details and any requirements from the UK provider
• Visiting groups after arrival where possible, and greeting Japanese school groups and senior teachers

Academic Programmes Manager Ideal Candidate:
• Should have a good knowledge of educational/cultural programmes for juniors and be able to quickly assess what type of programme would be suitable for each client school
• Understand the principles of good customer-care for Japanese clientele
• Should have a good understanding of the educational travel sector and be comfortable approaching language schools to discuss ideas for collaboration
• Able to complete multiple tasks
• Must possess the skills to create and deliver presentations when necessary
• Quick-thinking and pro-active approach to problem solving
• A very high degree of organisational skill is required
• Able to work extended hours if required (rarely)
• Must be adept in use of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, Word (Ability to use Access or similar database to intermediate level would be beneficial)
• Mature and comfortable dealing with senior people of all levels
• Empathic communicator able to see things from another’s point of view
• Experience within the educational travel sector would be a big benefit
• Some understanding of Japanese culture and Japanese language would be advantageous
• A confident driver with a clean driving license, with experience driving in the UK would be very beneficial
