Vol.26 – Supporting Business Through the Power of Data: Shaping the Future with Insights
Today we met with Mao Tokuda, a core member of our Sales Support team, as she’s just marked one year at Centre People Appointments. As she leads the company’s data analysis and insights, she’s our go-to colleague for all statistics, information, and figures to help grow the company. With a background in IT, she also shoulders the responsibilities of computer management, ensuring the safety and consistency of our infrastructure.

Why did you join Centre People?

“Like our other colleagues, when I registered with Centre People, they introduced this job to me. Introducing people to jobs in the UK and Europe sounded great! I liked the idea of an administration role because my previous job was quite hectic – I was a field service engineer, so I travelled about 80% of my job to client sites. It was tough physically, so I felt an office job would be a welcome change.”
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?

“So, I’m a huge movie fan. I often go to the cinema, maybe 3 to 4 times per month. Since I’m a huge Marvel fan, the new Avengers trailer was just realised, and I’m so excited! I have a subscription to Odeon, so I always go there.”
What’s the most surprising thing about you?
“It’s very surprising that I have a twin brother! I also have an older brother, but twins are very rare so that surprises people. I don’t think we’re similar though, he doesn’t look like me, and we sometimes like some of the same things, but usually we’re quite opposite. We went to the same elementary school, but different schools after that. We’re just like normal siblings, I think.”
What do you think is the most important responsibility of your position?
“Right now, I think data management and analysis are the most important thing I do. That data is the source of decision making for management, so making accurate data and analysis is very important. Without data, we can’t see anything that we do, we need it to set goals or make decisions for the company.”
What’s the skill you’ve developed most during your time here?
“In my previous job I used Excel, but not like now, for data management. So I learned how to use Power Query, Power BI, and new formulas, everything like that, which was new for me. I like using it!”
What project are you looking forward to working on in the future?
“So the most exciting project is the new internal system migration. I think it will be really effective, and it’s a big project for me. This is the first project that I’ll lead, so it’s a bit scary but very exciting – I want to learn how to manage projects, and also finish everything to the deadline. Time management is most important, which I want to learn a lot more.”
What do you enjoy the most about working at Centre People?
“Everyone says the same thing, but it’s definitely the people. I really like the people at Centre People, everyone is nice and I enjoy hanging out with them at the office or on the weekends.”
